EX-GOV ARRESTED IN LONDON FOR WIFE BEATING

Former governor of Benue State, Gabriel
Suswam , has responded to reports that he was arrested in London and granted
£5,000 bail after allegedly beating-up his
wife Yemisi , to a state of coma over a
squabble regarding his dalliance with his
alleged mistress, Shidoo .

In a swift reaction via his official
Facebook account, the former governor
called on the general public to disregard
the rumour, saying that there’s no iota of
truth in the story.

“ Dear friends, My attention has been
drawn to news making rounds on social
media that I was arrested in London last
week. That report is full of mischief and
aimed at slandering me and my dear wife.
Disregard any news about a squabble
between me and my dear wife. We’re fine,
enjoy your day. Thank you. GTS ,”
Suswam wrote.

Oshiomhole Governor accuses Okonjo- Iweala of ‘playing around’

Oshiomhole had earlier accused Okonjo-Iweala of spending $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without authorization.

Despite a passionate denial from former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala , Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has continued to accuse her of wrongdoing.

Oshiomhole had earlier accused Okonjo-Iweala of spending $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without authorization.

The former minister however termed it as one of many attempts to tarnish her name.

In response, Oshiomhole accused Okonjo-Iweala of ‘playing around with statistics,’ and asked her to explain the whereabouts of the $4.1 billion she presented in her last report.

The governor made the call on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, during a Channels TV programme on the
state of the economy.

Oshiomhole said:

“The decision to take money from the Excess Crude Account, if she had the power, the law should have been that power is vested in theNational Economic Council, NEC. NEC is an institution created by the constitution.”

“What she was referring to is her own
administrative arrangement. This $2 billion is the last sum, in her last report. She said we have $4.1 billion, she said so orally but it was captured in the minutes, only to come at the last minute to say oh ‘X’ is left.” “If you ask her, what is it that she paid for on the strength of augmentation, that is to say, if they were augmenting, it means that even if there is a drop in price, they will take from the Excess Crude Account to make up the difference.”

“If they were doing that, you wouldn’t have the kind of situation we are in today where revenue drops by about 45 percent. I think, with all due respect to Okonjo-Iweala, she knows how to play around, (I don’t want to say, lie) with statistics. I have made this point that she kept open only part of the pages and not the entire book.”

“The logic of transparency is that every minister must publish in full what is accruing to the Federation Account, month to month, and what is distributed to whom. What she has been publishing is what went to the Federal Government, each state government and local governments.”

“But she has never published simultaneously what accrued during the period, out of which this
said sum was distributed so that you can get the net, what was distributed from all that was collected and see what is left in the excess crude. Now you can see her changing the goal post.”

“Okonjo-Iweala was a member of the National Economic Council. I was a member. I had asked her and I am on record as asking her, don’t give us verbal report on matters of Federation Account, give us written report.”

In Rivers Armed robbers storm Civil Service Union secretariat

It was gathered that the gunmen started looting from the offices of the chairman, secretary and auditor of the union.

The Nigeria Civil Service Union in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was on Wednesday, July 1 invaded by armed robbers who made away with millions of Naira, laptops, phones and other valuables.

Speaking on the incident, the State Chairman of the Union, Opulabo Lily-West , said his auditor was beaten up by the criminals while they ransacked the offices.

“The miscreants invaded this office armed with all manner of dangerous weapons; forced themselves in, beat up my auditor and shattered my office and stole items from my office and that of the executive
secretary.

“They stormed the place, carted away files,
documents, personal effects running into millions of Naira. They took the N230,000 that was in my drawer. The hoodlums carted away the monies with which we were paying rebate to our officers.

“Other items, which were in my drawer were all carted away,” Lily-West said.

The Chairman of the Rivers State Joint PubliccNegotiating Council, Emecheta Chukwu , who visited the scene of the robbery condemned that incident and called of the police to investigate
and prosecute the perpetrators.

Nigeria’s entertainment industry has received a massive boost from information communication and technology solutions provider, Globacom, as the network announced the signing of 28 artistes as brand ambassadors.



The list is made up of 9 new ambassadors and 20 old ones whose contracts were renewed by Globacom.

BOKO HARAM Osinbajo Visits Emirs, Shettima, IDP Camp In Maiduguri

Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo landed in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, at 10:43 on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.


Osinbajo is expected to visit the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp at Dalori, as well as the University of Maiduguri Teaching hospital, where he will meet victims
of the Boko Haram attacks.

The vice president visited the Shehu’s palace to pay a homage on the Shehu of Borno and other Emirs.

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state thanked the
vice president for the visit and all the support the Buhari administration has been rendering to the state government and the people of Borno in general.

Osinbajo was reportedly driven around Maiduguri amidst tight and well-organised security. However, it did not prevent the terrorists from launching a suicide bomb attack on the outskirts of the metropolis, Molai town.
