A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Senate President Bukola Saraki for failing to appear before the court on Friday.
The warrant was issued by Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal after listening to arguments from both lawyers (Saraki and FG’s).
Saraki, who is a facing a 13-count charge of corruption and false declaration of assets, had procured an interim injunction from the federal high court, Abuja, to temporarily stop his trial.
Mahmud Magaji, the Senate President’s lawyer, had asked the court to respect the subsisting order of the high court asking the chairman of the tribunal, the Code of Conduct Bureau, the ministry of justice and Saraki to appear before it Monday, 21 September, 2015
Muslim Hassan, the prosecuting counsel who represents the federal government, argued that the high court does not have supervisory jurisdiction over the tribunal.
He therefore prayed the court to immediately issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the senate president which was granted.

Erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Niger Delta and Chairman of the Amnesty Programme, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has described the freezing account tales to be untrue and politically motivated
If we recall, reports have been making the round that his account was one of those allegedly frozen.
A national newspaper, had Sunday reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had frozen an account belonging to Keketobou Foundation, believed to have been established by Kuku, alongside other accounts belonging to those who served under the former President.
However, in a statement, Kuku said the Foundation has only N720,484 as balance today, adding that, “the proceeds of my published and launched book “Remaking The Niger Delta: Challenges and Opportunities” were donated for charity purposes as a public officer.”
He said: “I distributed JAMB forms to applicants, gave financial and material support to the aged, widows and physically challenged and helped in the rehabilitation of walkways and drainages in my hometown, Arogbo, Ondo State.
“These gestures were borne out of my determined spirit to give back to my final place of return in life.”

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can believes that the key to securing first team football is to score more goals.
Can was mainly deployed as a defender in his debut season at Liverpool and only got one goal out of it.
Can has started two of Liverpool’s four matches this season in a more familiar midfield position and hopes to improve.
“I want to do more in attack and I know I can improve in that area of my game. I want to do much more going forward in terms of scoring goals and providing assists,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“I’m trying to bring that into my game and I’m working on it in training.
“I always try to do my best and put in the running and help out in defence. I’m determined to work hard in defence and in attack.”
There is no shortage of competition in Liverpool’s midfield with the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Lucas Leiva also at manager Brendan Rodgers’ disposal, but Can is relishing the battle for a starting spot.
“I think every player aims to get in the starting XI so I work hard in training and I always try to show what I can do and impress the manager so he picks me,” he added.
“At the end of the day I think the competition for places is good for the team.
“I’m ready to take more responsibility as I’m in my second season. My English is improving and I’ve matured as a player.
“Playing in midfield means you have to take more responsibility. That means I want to score more goals and help the team to get results.”
