A female fertility counsellor, who is based in Lagos, has courageously reacted for the pregnant women and nursing mothers who were recently banned by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), from serving their country.
Grace, who recently gave birth after years of childlessness, divulged that when NYSC was set up by the government, it neither exempted nursing mothers nor pregnant women from service.
According to her, it is their prerogative to serve so the NYSC should not use their present status as an excuse to bar them from service. She however suggested that they can allow them to serve in the state or town where their husbands are based.
In the meantime, the director general of the NYSC, Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi has dismissed earlier reports of the NYSC banning pregnant women and nursing mothers from enrolling or from orientation camps.
